What would change if we knew we didn't have to do everything alone?

That question followed us all the way to Guatemala.

Hey Birdie started as a way to build real community closer to home — Flight Club, and the Flocks hundreds of Colorado women have found through it. Guatemala isn't a departure from that. It's the natural next flight.

In April 2027, we're taking a small Flock to Guatemala — in partnership with Friendship Bridge, an organization that's spent over 25 years building the same kind of interdependence we've built Hey Birdie around, among women whose lives look nothing like ours and everything like it. This isn't a retreat where we step away from our lives for a week. It's a week spent in community with women who are already living the answer to the question that got us on the plane.

Where We’re Going

We'll land in Guatemala City and make our way into the highlands, where the road winds down to Panajachel on the shores of Lake Atitlán. This is our home base for most of the week: volcanoes on the horizon, water at our feet, and a ring of villages around the lake to explore, each with its own rhythm, craft, and story.

For our last two days, we'll travel to Antigua, with cobblestone streets, colorful facades, and a slower pace for gathering what we've experienced before heading home. We'll fly out of Guatemala City at the end of the trip.

Where We’re Staying

Porta Hotel del Lago

Porta Hotel Antigua

Colonial elegance and vibrant tradition meet in the heart of Antigua. Centered around lush gardens and a sweeping pool, this beloved landmark blends historic charm with refined comfort, inviting guests to savor lively city energy by day and candlelit serenity by night.

Overlooking the shimmering waters of Lake Atitlán, Porta Hotel del Lago pairs panoramic views with modern comfort. Spacious rooms, lakeside dining, and easy access to Panajachel’s vibrant shoreline make it a tranquil yet connected escape.

This experience is for you if…

You've felt the pull toward something that asks more of you than a long weekend away.

You're drawn to other cultures not as a backdrop, but as a teacher. You can hold discomfort alongside wonder — and you know the difference between the two.

You want to travel in the company of women who are also paying attention to their lives.

And you're ready to come home not just rested, but rearranged.

This experience may not be for you if…

You're looking for a luxury escape, a fully scheduled itinerary with no open space, or a group experience where you can stay at the edges.

This week will ask you to be present — in community, in ceremony, and in yourself. That's not a warning, but an invitation - an honest one.

If you read both of those and felt something shift — that's worth exploring.
Fill out the interest form and we'll squawk ;)

Shape of the Week

You won't get a minute-by-minute itinerary here, and that's intentional. What we can tell you is the rhythm.

Mornings open slow, rooted in Hey Birdie's seasonal programming — the same spring emergence work behind Spring Migration, meeting you here in a new place.

Days are spent in community — time with Guatemalan women, in their homes and their rhythms, not as a tour but as a presence.

Evenings close the loop: ritual, reflection, the Flock gathering back together to hold whatever the day brought up.

Enough structure to hold you. Enough openness to surprise you. The specifics — where, exactly, and with whom — we're still building with Friendship Bridge, and we'll share them as they're ready.
