Fierce in Flight: A Mother + Daughter Self-Defense Experience

What does it mean to feel safe—in your body, in your voice, and alongside one another?

Join us for an evening where mothers and daughters come together to move, learn, and grow side by side.

Inside this space, we’ll intentionally cultivate connection, compassion, and curiosity—not as an add-on, but as the foundation. Because how we relate to ourselves and each other is inseparable from how we move through the world.

Together, we’ll explore what it means to walk with awareness, clarity, and choice, grounded in the “3 A’s”:

  • Awareness — noticing what’s happening within and around you

  • Assessment — trusting your instincts and reading a situation clearly

  • Action — responding with confidence and intention

Guided by expert instructors, you’ll learn simple, effective self-defense techniques inspired by the Seven Principles of Shinobi Self Defense—practices that emphasize timing, positioning, and using your body wisely, not forcefully.

And, because this is Hey Birdie… we’ll go deeper.

Through authentic relating, shared reflection, and intentional moments of connection, we’ll:

  • Strengthen the bond between mothers and daughters

  • Honor the wisdom and power of the female body

  • Practice being seen, heard, and supported in real time

Expect movement, learning, laughter, and meaningful connection—with just enough stretch to discover something new.

You’ll leave not only with practical skills to keep yourself safe, but with a deeper sense of trust—in your body, your voice, and each other.

This is about more than defense.
This is about how we move through the world—together.

Harvest Migration

As autumn approaches, nature shows us how to surrender with grace. Leaves fall, the light softens, and the earth prepares to rest — not in defeat, but in deep trust. This is a season of harvesting what has grown, honoring what lies beneath, and letting go of what can no longer be carried.

Harvest Migration is a 6-week immersive journey for women who feel the pull to slow down, look inward, and honor the thresholds they’re crossing. It is an invitation to excavate gently — not for answers, but for deeper truths waiting just beneath the surface.

Where Awakening Migration is a bloom — full of possibility, desire, and fresh beginnings —
Harvest Migration is a rooting — a gathering in, a sacred turning toward what’s real and ready to be released.

This work is aligned with the rhythm of the season:
🍂 It’s a time to reflect on what you’ve grown this year — in your heart, your body, your relationships, your work.
🍂 A time to honor both the fruit and the fallow.
🍂 A time to gather wisdom from your lived experience, grieve what must be let go, and prepare the ground for new dreams to rest and gestate through winter.

Enrollment is open now. Space is limited.
Launches October 7.

Come, let the season guide you home to yourself.

Power of Pleasure

Primed to Receive is a 3-hour embodied pleasure reset for women who are tired of pushing, performing, and powering through.

The Perch: The Pause

Join us for a special edition of The Perch, Hey Birdie’s signature open conversation space, featuring a preview screening of The M Factor 2, a documentary exploring women’s lived experiences of perimenopause.

This gathering is an invitation to pause — not to fix, solve, or optimize — but to be together. We’ll gather in a private home, watch the film, and open the room for shared reflection, lived experience, and honest conversation. As with all Perch gatherings, there are no experts at the front of the room. We are all living this, and we learn through witnessing and being witnessed.

4th Annual Ms. Klaus Twerkshop + Community Booty Builder

A Holiday Tradition Reimagined — Movement, Compassion, Community

This year, we’re bringing our annual Ms. Klaus Twerkshop to a new generation. Designed just for teens and tweens, this reimagined gathering blends joyful movement with conversation, curiosity, and community stewardship.

Part twerk class, part philanthropic experience, Ms. Klaus Twerkshop invites young people to explore connection — to themselves, to each other, and to the world around them. Led by the incomparable Miss Monroe, participants will learn fun + accessible movement while honoring the cultural roots of twerking.

We’ll also spend time in conversation about what it means to be a good steward of our community: noticing what’s around us, getting curious about others’ experiences, and practicing compassion in real, tangible ways.

This year’s giving focus:
We’re supporting the “The East Pantry” — ensuring students in our own city have access to essential items. Participants are invited to bring canned goods or pantry staples as offerings of care and solidarity.

What Teens + Tweens Can Expect

A Fun, High-Energy Twerk Class
Accessible movement, holiday beats, and a whole lot of joy — taught with intention and respect.

Philanthropy in Action
A hands-on giving activity and group conversation about community, compassion, and noticing who might need support.

Connection + Conversation
A space to meet new friends, explore identity, and practice curiosity about themselves and one another.

A Seasonal Reset
An empowering, body-positive experience during a time of year that can feel overwhelming.

This workshop is a playful, meaningful entry point into connection, giving, and growing up with heart.

December 14th • 10:00 am
Limited spots available.

The Perch: How Not to Raise an Entitled Asshole (All Genders)

We’ve heard you — the desire for more connection, for real conversations about what’s heavy, what’s beautiful, and everything in between. So we’re creating The Perch, a new (free) monthly gathering for Birds in Flight (and the women you love) to sit together, share, and be witnessed — no fixing, no pressure, no performance.

Think of it as a modern salon: one topic, honest voices, and space to both listen and be heard. Our first Perch will be held Friday, November 14 at 9:30 AM, with conversation circling around How Not to Raise an Entitled Asshole (All Genders) — the grit, grace, and wild growth of it all.

Spots are limited to 15 (with 8 reserved for Birds in Flight and their friends). Registration is required to receive the address.

✨ Come as you are. Bring your curiosity, your courage, and maybe a friend who needs a soft place to land.
